Little by Little

Zone conference in Georgetown, Guyana.

Here we are with our zone of 10 elders…

Our first time to meet President Robison and his wife.

Here’s why it took us all day to get there:

A flat tire in the line to get on the ferry.

Hours of waiting in the line for the ferry in a scalding hot car with a billion other cars and trucks. We live on the equator.

Beggars hounding us for money and the peanuts we were eating as we waited.

We finally made it to the front of the line after 3 1/2 hours! (Sometimes the wait can be up to 7 hours to get a car on the ferry.)

A 30 minute ride across the ferry over the Berbice River, followed by 1 ½ hours of driving on a highway dodging...

cows...more cows...some pigs... and donkeys, goats and dogs.

Eating fried rice in a small Chinese restaurant on the way.

After 3 days, we were glad to be home.

A bright moment for dad was finding a set of 25# barbells to buy. In his excitement, he forgot to check the price before he hauled them to the cash register. Do you suppose it mattered to him how much they cost?

A bright moment for me is that my hair is growing back little by little. A significant amount of it fell out during the past 8 months and the doctors never discovered why. Two questions I must ask: Where did the waves come from? And, how could one person have so much forehead?

haha, I like the pigs and cow :) I imagine it was no fun waiting for so long, but sounds like you only had to wait half as long as it could have been.

Thank-you for sharing your blog with us!! I am a member of Elder Hyde's family. We have all been absolutely fascinated by your detailed stories and beautifully snapped photographs. Thank you so much for serving and representing the Lord on a mission. It is very humbling and educational to see this blog. We are so glad to have gotten to know a little bit more of what David is experiencing in Guyana. God bless!

Brother and Sister Bullock,
I served in "The Great Oregon Portland Mission" in 1979 to 1981. I loved every part of my Mission in Oregon and loved Lake O. Now you are serving with my son Elder Kenith L. Wiliiams(The Red Head Elder) in "The Great West Indies Mission". Thank you so much for watching out for him and sharing these great pictures. We talked to him on Mother's Day what a great time we had. He loves his mission and the people there in Guyana. It is so great to have a son on a Mission. The Lord has blessed our family in ways we can not describe. Elder Williams has a Special Needs brother that has really been blessed in his life, but it seems that over the last 6 months he has been overly blessed with a desire to get more involved in all the church activies. He now loves blessing the Sacrament and wants to serve a Mission at the Temple taking care of the kids while thier parents are at the Temple.Elder Williams also has a 9 year old sister that thinks her Brother Kenith is the Greatest. She tells everyone about her brother who is on a Mission. Thank you again for watching over these Great Young Elder's in your Zone. I know they love the couples in the Mission. Please give Elder Williams a big huge from us next time you see him. If there is anything you need or anything we can do to help you or the Elders please let us know.

HURRAH FOR ISREAL,
Bro. Kent Williams
